The fifth round of the Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia bought crews and crowds alike to the popular and demanding Surfers Paradise street circuit on the Gold Coast.
SIMJEN staff and clients rallied together to support Jonny Reid and the SIMJEN Silver Bullet, enjoying the race from their birds eye penthouse view. They also saw the action up-close and personal upon meeting the team behind the machine.
With Gold Coast local Craig Baird racing on home-soil, he was certainly a crowd favourite and a force to be reckoned with. Reid made a promising start in the opening race, jumping from 4th to 3rd place. The second race however resulted in Reid claiming the wooden spoon after a show stopping crash.
In a display of true skill and experience, Reid managed to close the gap during the last race, crossing the chequered flag in 4th position, having jumped an astonishing 18 competitors.
After a hot paced weekend, Reid placed 4th in the All-Porsche category, faring well for the final round in Sydney on December 02-04. All eyes are now on Reid as he prepares to battle it out for top position.
